Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis, Saddle-billed Stork, is a widespread resident breeder in sub-Saharan Africa in forested waterlands and other floodlands in tropical lowland. Found singly or in pairs at rivers and large undisturbed wetlands, foraging for favorites like catfish, but it will also take frogs, birds, crabs and insects, also on large water beetles, small mammals and reptiles. The birds move in a deliberate and stately manner as they hunt, in a similar way to the larger herons.
