Rosemary (Romi) Hill on Instagram: "Hello hello, wonderful knitting friends! Even though I love the look of ribbing, I don’t necessarily always want it on my garments. For instance, my most worn and loved sweater has a rolled hem (IOW it’s just plain stockinette allowed to roll) and I love it with every fiber of my being. But I wish I had known the trick in this post back when I made it! By adding that purl ridge as in the reel above, the roll is tamed into subtly and evenness. I cast on my swatch with the German Twisted (aka old Norwegian) method because I like the look of purls on the edge, but you can really use any cast-on! With a different one, you may want to work a couple more rows in stockinette stitch before your purl ridge. Do you like a nice rolled hem? Rosemary (Romi) Hill on Instagram: "Hey hey, my friends! The two color Italian cast-on is a neat and tidy way to start two color brioche or ribbing. This is the cast-on I used for the brioche swatch I have shown the last couple of days. In this reel, I’ve used both yarns slip-knotted together to anchor the start of the cast-on. This is not used as a stitch, and will be dropped off the needle later. I’m also using a smaller needle than I’ll use with the rest of my ribbing, as this cast-on tends to be a bit loose. Depending on your knitting style, one or two sizes will do to neaten things up. Do you see how the stitches look like alternating knits and purls? The color held to the back in my slingshot grip will present as knit stitches on this side, and alternate with the front color presenti Two Color Knitting, Color Knitting, Brioche Knitting, Knit Stitches, Neat And Tidy, Knitting Tutorial, Crochet Techniques, Knitting Stitches, 2 Colours
