Description My personal favorite of all the Greek gods and goddesses, Persephone. Here she is shown as the maiden Kore, daughter of Demeter, before her capture by Hades (after which she became the queen of the underworld). Her story speaks of dramatic change and symbolizes the transition of the seasons from flowery spring to cold, harsh winter.
