We secured them to the wall using rawl plugs & screws & there’s much more in depth info about this on my pax wardrobe highlights. We then added a frame around the edges for the MDF to be secured to. First we built a base out of 6 x 2 timber, and then added an 18mm plinth out of MDF for the wardrobes to sit on! We have enough space for 3 double wardrobes and 1 single. Next steps in part 2 are to build the inside of the wardrobes, adding the draws and shelves, as well as adding the doors! Finally in part 3 using 18mm MDF to create filler panels for the built in look! See below process for the bespoke effect: -base built from wood to lift wardrobes off the ground. -skirting is carried along the front of base to conceal it and blend the wardrobes into the room. -doors made from MDF with help from a joiner -pelmet from b&q added to top of wardrobes to make it look like a genuine period feature of the room. - beading/trims added to front of doors to make them look Victorian. - door fronts for drawers made using MDF and beading to match the wardrobe door fronts. -sides of wardrobe didn’t need padding out (unlike master bedroom) as the wardrobe wasn’t within an alcove. We took a double and single wardrobe and made a base for them to sit on that was high enough to accommodate the skirting board. We then screwed a baton to the wall to secure the wardrobes to and put them in place. We then made side panels and a top panel out of mdf to make it look built in and added the skirting board on.
