Altered pattern from a cuff in a portrait of Jane Seymor 1536, artist Hans Holbein (younger). 16th Century Elizabethan Blackwork Reversa. Holbein Stitches Black silk thread on linen ground cloth. Edging is 17th century needle lace button hole stitches with pearl cotton thread. Side note: I used a low quality silk thread so it is getting fuzzy with time. Higher quality silk is now used on these types of designs.
