Josh's box of T-shirts had two Hawaiian shirts his grandmother had made for him, and I really wanted to use them in his quilt because they're pretty special. Originally, I wanted to figure out a way to use the actual shirt fronts, but it just wasn't going to work without taking up too much space. These instructions are specifically for the Quilting Bee - Seams Like Sisters. The instructions will assume you have zipper bag of cut pieces that include: 2 Sleeves = “house” shaped pieces 2 Shirt Fronts = 2 rectangles 5” by 12” with a small triangle cut off it 2 Collars = Looks like . . . a collar 2 Inserts = 2” by 5” triangles with smallest points cut off 1 Pocket = Looks like a pocket! The first quilt shown was made from twenty (20) Hawaiian shirts that Jason Gleaton used to wear to work managing a coastal restaurant. Custom quilt ordered by his wife, Samantha, and made by DLQ. The second quilt shown was custom made from the shirts of the late Layton Parkhurst Zimmer, commissioned by his daughter Sally Knight.
