French wire (also called bullion) is a an ultra fine wire that has been coiled into a flexible tube. It reinforces and protects the bead thread where it passes through clasp components. The clasp area of the necklace typically undergoes the most stress, so incorporating French wire is a great way to extend the life of your beaded jewelry! It also creates a professional, minimalist look that blends seamlessly with gold metal findings. 

Tips for using French wire in beaded jewelry:

French wire comes in different diameters, usually between 0.5-1.0mm. I find that I use 0.7mm the most but that’s because I use a thinner thread. If you are using a thicker cord, you will need to choose a bigger diameter.
