This house was much smaller until 1878 and bought by John & Mary Gill Later head of the James Smart MFG Co He Renovated it adding Mansard Roof and extra Wings Transferring into a Second Empire Style. Gill's grandson former mayer John Gill Broome and his wife Valerie became owners in 1957 and the house remains in the family 4

This lovely house in Saline was built in 1873 in the Second Empire style. It is one of my favorite houses in the area where I live. NRHP #79000835 This Second Empire residence was constructed in 1873 by George Clayson, a nurseyman for the village of Palatine, IL. It has been owned by the Park District since 1976 and serves as a home for the Palatine Historical Society. It was restored over ten years to its 1890 appearance for a cost of $200,000.

William H. Davenport House, also known as the Curtiss House, is a Second Empire style house with a tower and a mansard roof. It was built in 1875 in Saline, Michigan. The house and it’s grounds take up a full block of land right on Michigan Avenue in downtown Saline. It was registered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Register #75000964
