Mimi spirit. Mimi are the spirits of Australia’s lands, skies, rivers and surrounding seas. These spirits are said to have taught the Aboriginal people all that they know about hunting, fishing, fire making, crafting and spiritual practices, and would come out at sunset to restore the lands, dance and converse with the Aboriginal people, depending on what type of Mimi they were, they may come out of rivers, shadows of trees, the sky, shadows/crevasses of the rocks and out of cave paintings. Best viewed on black background  Gecko created by repetitive pattern of dots. I used the end of wooden pencils, small toothpicks and Q-tips to create the various dot sizes.   Inspiration was Australian aboriginal dot painting art and my own fascination with dots, repetition, circles, patterns and the rhythm caused when they are combined. I also have a passion for geckoes, their behavior, look, skin patterns and body design.    Material tempera paint and construction paper. Not very permanent...
