If you're visiting from the Operation Write Home Tuesday Tutorial, welcome! Thanks to Kristie, Seongsook, and Sandy for inspiring this tutorial. Kristie is the mistress of all things 6x6, Seongsook's been offering up great One Sheet Wonder templates recently, and Sandy did an episode of OWHtv on her method of using a 6x6 pad. Here's my take on the topic of 6x6 paper pads: This weekend is Memorial Day weekend and marks an annual tradition for Operation Write Home: the biggest bloghop of the…

some cards are stacked on top of each other and have different colors, patterns and designs

During a recent visit to Michael's I found a 6x6 pad of paper from American Crafts and over the weekend, I managed to use the entire pad. I made over 30 cards from the pad. Here's a photo of the pad. 24 sheets of 6x6 papers. This is just some of the cards I was able to make from the papers. I was inspired by a layout that Michelle Wooderson used in a recent post of her blog Mish Mash I started by cutting all my papers into 4x6 pieces and then cut the 4x6 pieces into 4x4, 4x3/4 and 4x1 1/4. I…

a pile of cards sitting on top of a table next to each other with the words happy birthday written on them

I've got many 6x6 pads that are halfway gone. I use some of the papers, then get tired of them and switch to another set of papers. The problem? I rarely get back to that half-used pad of paper. So, I'm trying to learn a new habit and use up an entire 6x6 pad. I've been stalking OWH bloggers who do this successfully, like Airborne Wife and Kristie who made the 6x6 pad tutorial, so I can pick up their techniques. An important point for me is to buy 6x6 pads with patterns and solid papers…

a card that says just a little note to say hello

Spring officially starts next week here in the United States. I really don't mind winter since it's usually pretty mild in Western Washington. But I'm ready for some sunshine, warmer temperatures and pretty blossoms. The new release, Spring Market collection from Carta Bella is full of lovely floral designs and rustic wood accents. It reminds

I received an email from a good friend who is currently deployed, asking if I would like to send some cards to her to put out for others to use to send home... why yes I would!!! Last night I made 13 cards and I had all the rest of that paper pad I had used.. and got busy making cards using all those scraps. I made 39 cards today.. plus the ones from last night make a total of 52 cards from one paper pad. There are two sheets left, but they are squares and I couldn't figure out a way to…

Hello friends! I was so excited when Michelle from Pink & Main asked me to do one of my 6x6 videos using one of their paper collections. I decided to use their Sunset collection which is one of their newer 6x6 releases. I just love the mix of polka dot and plaid designs and the beautiful

Hello friends! It was time for me to turn another 6x6 paper pad into a set of cards. I used the beautiful Potted collection by Catherine Pooler. I love the plant themed paper pad! Even with the little bit of pink, I think it works well for masculine or feminine cards. Since I will be

Hello friends! It was time to tackle a new 6x6 paper pad. This time I used Echo Park's Plant Lady. I will admit I'm not much of a plant person, but I just love the colors and designs in this paper collection so I had to buy it. There are quite a few fun sentiment

the cards have been placed on top of each other and are ready to be used

Not too long ago there was a post on the Operation Write Home site about using a 6 x 6 paper pad to make a bunch of cards. I wanted to see how many cards I could get out of a 6 x 6 paper pad. I used My Mind's Eye Breeze and ended using everything in the pad less a small bit that is shown in the last image. I ended up with 69 cards.. I bet I have enough scraps to make at least 2-4 more cards. Measurements for the cards: top left and top right use the same size pattern paper, the banner strip…

Raise your hand if you are completely in awe of Kristie Marcotte and her ability to power through entire 6x6 paper pads...yeah me too! For my SumMore Fun blog post today I decided to embrace that challenge for myself! It wasn't easy and took me three days off and on to finish the paper pad, but I ended up with these 32 cards. I used the My Mind's Eye My Favorite Things 6x6 paper pad. I have had it floating around in my craft room for quite some time. I picked it because it had both masculine…

several pieces of scrappy paper laid out on top of each other with some tags attached to them

For several years, I donated cards to the non-profit organization Operation Write Home. The organization is now closed, but used to provide blank handmade cards to deployed US service members so they would have cards to write home to their family and friends. Sometimes, the organization would need a large quantity of cards, quickly. It
