Make! Mardi Gras Jester Hat
Children will love creating their own jester hats in this simple tutorial they can get into the spirit of carnival.
Tape Scissors Glue Pens or pencils Ruler or you can just do it by eye Card Three triangles Three long strips
You will need
Tape Scissors Glue Pens or pencils Ruler or you can just do it by eye Card (cereal/pizza box) or paper (large A4 envelopes) Three triangles approx. 7cm x 18cm Three long strips approx. 4cm wide – to join together and use the headband piece Any paper or plastic in the colours, purple, yellow, green. These are the traditional colours of carnival but you can substitute with any other coloured paper or pieces of plastic.

Step 1.
Decorate both sides of your triangles in the three colours.

Step 2.
Add extra details onto the ends of your triangles. You could also use scrunched up foil as bells.

Step 3.
Tape the long strips together and then measure around your child’s head to get the correct size for the headband. Cut off any excess and then tape in place.

Step 4.
Decorate the headband with pens or with other coloured recycled materials. (Alternatively you decorate the strips before step 3)

Step 5.
Tape the triangles onto the inside of the headband.

Step 6.
Gently fold the triangles outwards to create the look of a jesters hat.
