Retro, earthy decor
It takes a special kind of interior designer to be able to take a period property – in this case, one straight out of the 1970s – and turn it into a family-friendly home that doesn't disappoint in style. When Jessica Helgerson, of Jessica Helgerson Interior Design, took on this riverside fixer-upper for a family of four in Portland her only brief was to meet the client's desire for a colorful, playful home. Wrapping almost every room in wood and delivering a muted, earthy, Seventies-inspired, and just plain groovy color palette, the team created a scheme for this home that feels like a signature interior design style in and of itself Image credit: JHID / Photography Aaron Leitz / TaylorSmith Sustainable Construction

Vintage decor 2024 trend
Vintage furniture and decor has never, and will never, go out of style, but more and more designers and homeowners are turning to pre-loved items to spruce up their design schemes this year. With retro looks on the rise, and transitional style – a considered mix of vintage and contemporary elements – back in fashion, it's no surprise that searches are up for all things vintage Image credit: JHID / Photography Aaron Leitz / TaylorSmith Sustainable Construction

Flamboyant summer decor
Fearlessly flamboyant is the best way to describe every space of this 1960s French Regency-style mansion in the hills of Los Angeles. Despite appearances to the contrary, many elements here are new, but made to look retro. All in all, it's the perfect summer decor inspiration 🌴 Image credit: Stephen Kent Johnson / Otto

Colorful minimalism inspiration
'There is a stereotype that colorful interiors are maximalist or visually overstimulating,' says interior designer Bethany Adams. 'In my own work, I often employ a rainbow of colors within a single room, but my preference is for quiet, refined spaces – and no one has ever accused me of being a maximalist'💛 Image credit: Vaughan Design & Development / Photography Chris Snook

Ocean blue summer trend
Blue is a color that never goes away for very long, and we’ve long extolled the virtues of decorating with blue. Due to its countless hues – it’s more versatile than you might think. From sky blue to classic navy, some shade of blue will work in your space. A moody ocean blue is proving to be a strong contendant for the shade of the season. With green undertones and jewel-like depths, the color is rich and enveloping, without being gaudy. See more ways to style it at the link in bio. . Image...

Ever had your walls replastered and found yourself wanting to live with them in their semi-finished state? It's no wonder – the color creates a comforting and nest-like feel, with shades pale enough to keep a space feeling bright and airy, looking especially beautiful when drenched in sunlight, yet their orangey undertones add a richness and depth that greys and whites fail to add.
