A E Jones

Arts & Crafts metalwork by Albert Edward Jones. A E Jones started making metalwork in the Arts & Crafts style from 1902. He worked briefly for the Birmingham Guild of Handicraft before setting out on his own. The firm eventually ended in the 1990's but it's the items made in the early years of the firms history that interest me.

A E Jones silver candlestick with Ruskin roundels
Looking for a mate.. I bought this A E Jones silver candlestick set with Ruskin Pottery roundels a long time ago. It is hallmarked for 1904 and appears in early catalogues and The Studio magazine in 1906. I have always kept a watch for another to possibly make a pair.. I have never seen another.. surely Jones made more than one? Please let me know if you know where one is!

A bronze and silver clock by A E Jones, circa 1910. Still retains the original "St Dunstan Ware" paper label to the back. The original French movement, typical of that used in Jones's clocks, has been fully overhauled.

A silver buckle set with amethysts by A E Jones, 1908. A stunning and rare piece by one of my all time favourite makers. The use of amethysts was unusual for this period.

A E Jones Arts and Crafts silver and amethyst buckle
A silver buckle set with amethysts made by A E Jones in 1907. The buckle is an early and rare design by Jones. The use of amethysts at this time is quite unusual but, having said that, this is the second buckle I have had using amethysts. As expected, both pieces of the buckle are hallmarked for Birmingham, 1907. One side is stamped with Jones’s makers mark. A small but perfectly formed and very attractive piece. The buckle is likely cast and then hand finished. Three leaf designs radiate out from the centrally mounted amethysts on each side of the buckle.
