Chairing the Feathers; The Eynsham Morris at the Gates of Blenheim Palace, 1902 by William Nicholson (English 1872-1949).....English folk dancer, representing the "fool", being carried on the shoulders of fellow dancers. He is holding a coloured stick with a pig's bladder attached with which to hit the men....note the bells attached to his legs...this tradition continues to this very day...
