Queen Mary’s College:  Located on Kamaraj Salai, right opposite Marina beach, Queen Mary’s College is one of the landmarks of the city. The college, which is now 100 years old, has had many illustrious alumni.  The college campus, called Capper House, was the residence of a British Lieutenant Colonel and then a hotel, before it was converted into the college. Later, the building was demolished to make way for the modern ‘Kalaignar Maligai’ in 2010.
