22nd December is celebrated in India as National Mathematics Day. Indian legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22nd December 1887 and died on 26th April 1920. In order to recognize his immense contribution towards Mathematics the Government of India had declared Ramanujan's birthday to be celebrated every year as the National Mathematics Day.
