Dearly Loved Date 1828 Georgian Mourning Brooch
Loved and lost in the reign of George IV, this sweet pin is dedicated in hand engraved script on the reverse to 'Margaret Barron Ob 13th Mar 1828 Aet 25'. The legend, In Memory Of is expressed in a Gothic font enamelled in black to the surround of the rock crystal compartment holding a plaited section of her hair. As yet we have not been able to find any information regarding this young lady but it is enough to know that this brooch would have been a cherished reminder of a life cut short.
