We wanted to create a modern home based on design principles meaningful to us – simplicity, creativity, honest construction, practicality, comfort and telling a story. So, we often find ourselves being quite eclectic in terms of the eras that inspire us.
Our approach was to work with the house and respect its original character, instead of trying to transform it into something else. The house feels like a work of art – from the layout and proportion to the construction and detailing, everything feels like it has been considered, crafted and cared for.
We believe home is the most important place in the world, and it has the power to transform your everyday experience. So, it pays to consider everything. That doesn't mean it has to be about money but investment in being true to your values and defining how you want to live.

East London Townhouse

Home to @theallerstudio designer Cat Earp and her family, the 16th century Grade II-listed cottage has been lovingly updated for modern living whilst maintaining the original character and charm.

“I think Dead Flat® is so great because if there are any marks, you can just wipe it down. It's really durable. A lot of our rooms are quite high traffic with lots of use, so for me, that was a big part of the decision-making of using Dead Flat®.”

Most homes don’t have a speakeasy in the basement but after seeing the extraordinary room Jordan and Barry have created, we think they should. Rich, inviting Green Smoke cocoons this room in colour, adding to the atmosphere of a secret, sought-after space.
‘We really wanted to make sure that this is not only a beautiful area but also a really durable space. It's not only where we come and go, but we have deliveries coming in throughout the day. We also store our bikes here a lot, and in the summertime, the Dead Flat® paint really gives us that durability. We can wipe it clean, and most of the time you can't do that with flat paint.’
Jordan and Barry knew exactly what they wanted to achieve in their office: ‘It was important for us to have a space where we can relax but also be very productive. And we wanted the tones of this room to inspire us.’

Rather than opt for a neutral colour scheme, as many may have been tempted to, Melissa and Lena opted for the deep, rich colours of Brinjal and Terre D’Egypte.
Inspired to make this room feel as big and light as possible, design duo Melissa Antonius and Lena Schimmelbusch from Antonius Schimmelbusch Interior Design used our high-shine Full Gloss finish on the walls — a choice we always adore but rarely see. Then, in contrast, they chose ultra-matt Dead Flat® for the ceiling.
The space is pretty small and people are often afraid to use colour in small spaces, but the moodier and darker it gets, somehow you create an illusion of where does this room end?

We’ve asked the man himself to take us on a tour too and tell us all about his recently redecorated home, from how he created a big impact with a limited budget to the challenge of balancing differing tastes.
We wanted to warm-up the dining area and create somewhere to house our absurd cookbook library. So, I had some timber cut locally for shelving and painted EVERYTHING in Biscuit in Dead Flat.
The study is a tiny, quite poorly lit room (it’s northwest facing), so I wanted to go relatively dark with Minster Green and it works a treat.
