Waxing and waning, the moon is a sign of constant change and the cyclical passing and return of the seasons. Harvest Moon is upon us tonight and it’s time to harvest the hops in Kent at the moment. Locality and sustainability are at the core of our Kent Oast project. Locally sourced chestnut poles mimic the hop frames in the nearby fields to create hop-laden archways through the wildflower meadows.
In our Oast and Barn garden we populated the gravel courtyard with a cluster of ornamental multi-stem trees, providing a shaded canopy above dining, as well as framing views throughout the wider garden. We drew inspiration from the rooflines of the heritage buildings, with the angular shapes woven throughout the design of the garden and in the detailing of water features, gate posts, pergolas and the selection of tree shapes. #countrygardens #countryliving #heritagehomes #gardendetails
New beginnings on site | We've begun making a garden for an Oast house & thatched Barn, with materials selected to marry both heritage buildings. Locally sourced & sustainable chestnut planks will form desire lines through huge swathes of planting. #heritagehomes #chesnut #sustainablepractice #gardendesignpractice #landscapearchitecture #architecturalgardens #countrysidedesign
