A New Holiday Tradition: Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo - Starting November 23rd and running through the holiday season, the Houston Zoo will close at 5pm, and re-open from 6pm-10pm each evening for a spectacular night time holiday light show, with more than 300,000 twinkling lights, projected light shows, animated sculptures, carolers, cookies and beverages. At around 10 bucks per person, I can't wait to do this!
As the title says, there are plenty of fantastic beasts in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them — but the one that charmed audiences most has to be the Niffler, a small platypus-like creature that loves hoarding anything and everything shiny. Turns out, the magical species from J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world bears a striking resemblance to a real-life animal called the short-beaked echidna, and Australia’s Taronga Zoo has just gained three more of them.
