Annie Hall - A remarkably funny, modernist, quasi-existencialist, analitically fascinating pastiche about modern life and relationships, (before hipsters ruined it for everybody) with Woody Allen at his funniest, grouchiest, Jew-iest, most neurotic and self-loathing. (9/10)
When it comes to comedy, no filmmaker does it quite like the incomparable Woody Allen. His list of accolades for his work is a lengthy one; it includes 5 Oscar wins, 24 nominations, as well as the #1 spot on the WGA's list of 101 Funniest Screenplays (for Annie Hall). So clearly, studying a career like Allen's, which now spans half a damn century, would do any and every filmmaker some tremendous good.
