Ruth Graves Wakefield is who invented chocolate chip cookies. In 1933 Ruth and her husband Kenneth were running the Toll House Inn in Whitman Massachusetts.. Although the Toll House Inn in Whitman Massachusetts is no longer, the cookies have lived on. Nestle still uses this original recipe on the backs of all their chocolate chip bags, and Toll House is a universal term in reference to the chocolate chip cookie.
