Walter Diemer is credited for the first successful invention of bubble gum. While working at Fleer Chewing Gum Company, Diemer accidentally made a formula that allowed a chewer to blow bubbles. Fleer Chewing Gum Company marketed Diemer's new gum as "Double Bubble". Until Bazooka Bubble Gum was invented, Double Bubble was the only bubble gum on the market.
