We Remember

The Wall Bars - we were allowed to put these out ourselves, they used to clip into the floor of the hall. I even had some of those shiny shorts!

IL0VETHE80s on

Primary School needlework. Sewing classes for girls - these pieces of material were used to teach basic and some fancy embroidery stitching. We proudly took them home and presented them to our parents and grand-parents who would display them on sideboards and dressing tables.

Nostalgia - 1980s petite post office. We also bought my Granny one of these when she retired after 53 years as a post mistress.

Black Jacks - liquorice/aniseed flavour chews. The earliest versions of the Black Jack wrapper depicted a smiling gollywog; a popular children’s toy of the time. In fact, this is the wrapper that most children will remember from their childhood. It wasn’t until the 1980s, shortly before Trebor’s merger with rival confectioner Bassetts in 1990 that the wrapper was modernised and the image, considered to be politically incorrect, was removed. #trebor #blackjacks #aniseed #pennymix #sweets…
