Uffington White Horse, Oxfordshire. Around five miles from the town of Wantage, the Uffington White Horse is a stylish figure, which is believed to be about 3,000 years old.


Our heritage stems back to 1892 when the University was founded as an Extension College of Oxford University. Originally located on Valpy Street in the town centre, University College Reading began operating from London Road in the early 1900s, thanks to the generosity of a small group of benefactors. Familiar landmarks such as the Great Hall (pictured above right, as it was being built), St Georges and Wantage were some of the first buildings to be constructed during this time
