Human rights perspectves respects diversity and does not just "tolerate" it. There are so many beautiful differences that humanity would grow within our collective consciousness if only we could embrace them.
Diversity: Every person that you encounter is unique to our world. This is true in our classrooms. Each child comes form a different family, in a different background, and have different beliefs. All of that is okay! Everyone is allowed to be different and should be accepted for being their self.
~~~~~~~Together...Kindred Spirits~~~~~~~~ We all live many miles apart. What we think, what we believe and how we each live will always be complicated and diverse. It is the love we share; Heart to heart and soul to soul that weaves us together into kindred spirits.
Diversity: There is going to be diversity in every class that you have. Finding the right way to introduce it and talk about it with your students is key. This gives a great description that is easy to follow and teach to your students.
This could be a neat project to do with kids and could be branched into so many different ways. Have kids trace their hands and decorate them in ways that represent themselves. So much cultural diversity can come from this project. It would be a project to do at the beginning of the year. This could be in phase 3.
