Frederick Hubbard "Fred" Gwynne (July 10, 1926 – July 2, 1993) During WW II, Gwynne served in the Navy. He later studied art under the G.I. Bill. Gwynne was 6'5", an attribute that contributed to his being cast as Herman Munster in The Munsters. He had to wear 40 lbs of padding and 4" asphalt spreader boots. Gwynne retained fond memories of Herman: "... I might as well tell you the truth. I love old Herman Munster. Much as I try not to, I can't stop liking that fellow."
