Only the fifth set of mountain gorilla twins ever to be reported in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. The mountain gorilla is officially listed as critically endangered. This image by Diana Rebman was in the running for the 2013 Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Species.
Being cute is all very well, but perhaps Atinbi the baby gorilla has had enough adulation for one day, sticking her tongue out at admirers at the Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon. Many of the primates at the centre have been orphaned by poachers, but Atinbi was born there after her mother was given refuge.
Andre Bauma with Ndakasi - "I felt obliged to stay with the gorillas here," Bauma says. "You must justify why you are on this earth - gorillas justify why I am here, they are my life. So if it is about dying, I will die for the gorillas."
