I like how there is a nook to the right of the fireplace. Do that and have another below it for wood. This way too you can get the chunky mantle that I love so much. and the stone is so beautiful. I would like the hearth to be a bit higher though, oh well you can't have it all LOL

It has a rich history that included being used as a field hospital during the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Many centuries later the cottage now has a new red thatch made from heather.
