DIY Tanker Desk refinished top This desk was so disgusting... the rubber top was so damaged (full of deep cuts, grease & grime, gum...). Here's what I did to refinish the top: 1) I peeled the old rubber off 2) Coated the bare metal with Rustoleum primer (2 coats, just to be safe) 3) 2 coats of light turquoise latex paint 4) After it dried, I poured a bartop epoxy over the whole thing! I now have a usable, shiny new desk top - in the color of my choice! :)
A year or so ago I became very interested in restoring old vintage items, like tools and furniture, and incorporating salvaged items into some of my custom woodworking projects. The latest project I completed was an All Steel Equipment tanker desk that I purchased at an online auction back in February.
