St. Monica (322?-387 A.D.): A Saint for Modern Mothers. St. Monica shows us that through incessant prayer for our families and trust in the Lord, we may through the grace of God lead our children to Heaven. Her perseverance in prayer helped transform her son, Augustine, from a decadent sinner to a saint who would eventually become a Doctor of the Church.
Saint Monica was an Italian christian who was born in 333 and, through the power of persistent prayer and patience, converted her pagan husband and mother-in-law to the Catholic faith. She also prayed for 17 years for her son to change from his life of sin, the boy was Saint Augustine.
