Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, Louisiana, built between 1837 - 1839.....this is the southern mansion I dream of living in one day....except in Charleston, beautiful!!!

Nottoway Plantation, White Castle, LA. Completed in 1859 for the John Hampden Randolph family by architect Henry Howard in the Greek Revival + Italianate style for which he was renowned. John was born in Virginia, 24.3.1813 + married his wife Emily Jane Liddell, 14.12.1837. They had 11 children. Randolph devoted most of his time to the plantation + managing the slaves. Nottoway survived the American Civil War with only a single grapeshot to the far left column. Listed NRHP 1980.

From Charleston to the bayou of Mississippi, the white castles of the members of the elite planter class are ablaze during summer evenings as ladies in pastel brightly colored skirts sashay around the verandahs and breezeways tucked under the arm of dapper beaus of all ages in this pretty world of cotton and wealth.

Abandoned Southern Mansion. why is no one loving this house? I would love this house and it wouldn't have to be alone. :( There are so many beautiful abandoned places and so little money. :(
