The two men (Basil Rathbone left, and Nigel Bruce right) who have played Holmes and Watson...more than any other two men in Film and Radio history. Yes, they also had an ongoing radio drama as well as 14 feature films. A bit stoic and over-refined compared to our more modern look at Sherlock Holmes, but still a great performance.
Sherlock Holmes-- for me it is always Rathbone. He looks like the illustrations Doyle approved of. When I see an actor who is not tall, long-faced and well-nosed, it feels wrong, even if the actor is good.
