Kandinsky - he could see music. Different notes, riffs and instruments had their own color and shape. When I was in first grade our teacher gave us some paper and colored pencils and made us listen to jazz to see if we could see music like Kandinsky. I couldn't but now every time I see Kandinsky's art, I think of jazz - he was a big fan.
I ❤ crazy quilting . . . Made of over 100 pieces of fabric. I machine stitched them to the cotton canvas with free-motion embroidery. The star shapes are meant to be a pattern of floating seeds. The silhouettes are mainly machine stitched, but the tips are hand embroidered with tiny French knots with a single thread of floss. There are small gold stitches scattered around the background, that don't really show here. The colours may seem a bit unreal, but I have seen these colours in nature.
I like the fact that this artist has used the proportions of the face in a very abstract way by moving the features. This shows together and apart because all the features are there but they are in a muddled order.
