The harbour of Le Havre has become, since its creation by King François I, a major exchange hub, but it has also been at the heart of the history of sports well before welcoming the Tour for the first time in 1911. The city indeed welcomed the Olympic Games both in 1900 and 1924 thanks to the Société des Régates Havraise in charge of organizing the sailing events.

The SS Nomadic, the only remaining White Star Ship in the world, was a tender to the HMS Titanic. The ship is in the process of being restored as a museum in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as part of the Titanic Quarter.
Rio Olympics 2016: Giles Scott wins GB's fifth successive Finn title
Giles Scott sealed gold in sailing's Finn class to give Great Britain their fifth successive Olympic title in the event. The Weymouth-based 29-year-old succeeds Sir Ben Ainslie, who won three previous titles, and emulates Iain Percy in 2000.
