The Proclamation 1763 was an order that American Colonists couldn't live west of the Appalachian Mountains. The picture above shows the line. This proclamation angered the colonists. They had helped the British win the French and Indian War and felt they deserved the rights to move father west (many wanted to move to the Ohio River Valley). However, the British ignored their pleas and made the line anyway. This hostility led to the Revolutionary War.

Royal Proclamation of 1763...established British administration over the colonies and set a "proclamation line" (between the red and pink areas above)..all areas west of the red region were to be reserved for the Indians. Colonist who thought they had fought the French and Indian War for the interior portion of American land were angered by this.
