This board helps my students remember some of the word parts we have highlighted throughout the year. Greek and Latin word parts are the toughest (we put those in the root section), but once they master them, they can continuously add examples (leaves) throughout the year seeing their vocabulary and the tree get thicker and thicker!

I made some paper popsicles with prefixes, suffixes, and root words on them. I then got three cups and wrote prefix, suffix, and root word on them. Students have to sort the popsicles into the appropriate cups and then have to use this recording sheet to make six words using any combination of prefix, suffix, and root word.

Think you've never seen this latin word root before? Don't forget that word roots aren't always at the start of the word - often times, they're at the end! So bank-RUPT, dis-RUPT, cor-RUPT all fall into this category!
