Rochus Misch (1917-2013) was Adolf Hitler's bodyguard from 1939 until 1945, and he was in the bunker when Hitler committed suicide. He never expressed regret over his wartime service or doubts about “the boss”. He was the last survivor of the entourage holed up in Hitler's underground lair. In 2009, his daughter, Brigitta Jacobs-Engelken, an architect who worked to restore synagogues, revealed that her mother Gerda, Misch's wife, was Jewish. Misch refused to accept it.
