Remember the Titans (2000) is arguably one of the best sports films of recent times. Denzel Washington plays African-American Coach Boone who works to lead a high school football team in their first season as a racially integrated unit. The movie delivers laughter and tears, the full package. And for all of you #NorthwestBearcats, the real Coach Boone will be on campus to speak on September 25th.

Remember the Titans. Outstanding movie, based on a true story. A ton of great lessons. Image links to movie trailer via YouTube.

Remember the Titans - This trailer is a great little case study in the marketing of films. If you have not seen the film, you would watch this trailer and think "its a football movie" which it is, but its more than that. The entire underlying racial issues dramatized in the movie are only hinted at in the trailer. I think it was very smart marketing. Leading with the race portion of the story may have made it less successful.

"Remember the Titans" is one the most inspirational sports movies of all time. It takes place in Virginia where schools were segregated for generations. However, when one black and one white high school are forced to integrate they must learn to trust each other and come together, and they do so with the help of the football team.

The year is 1971, and the people of Alexandria, VA. are none too pleased when African American Herman Boone is given the nod to head a newly integrated football team.
