Weekly Home Reading Log freebie in Laura Candler's online file cabinet - I like that they have to write a summary of what they read and record how long they read for - great for (upper) ks2

Looking for a way to keep track of your student's reading? These cute monthly reading logs allow you to do just that! Each night the child reads, they simply color a coordinating picture and at the end of the month, if all of the pictures are colored in, they can earn a reward of your choice. Send these home at the start of the month or keep them at school in a folder where students can track their reading for the month.

Just stick this in your students' "Bring Back to School" side of their folder and have the kids update daily. I give a bookmark as a reward for each one turned in and after a student turns in three, he or she gets to check out an age-appropriate chapter book from my personal library.

Read about two changes to my independent reading routine that made all the difference last year. Question those routine practices and you might find something you love! (reading logs, homework, status of class routine, back to school ideas for reading)

Reading Raffle Tickets - Reading Incentive

I love this! Maybe when students hand in reading logs at the end of each week, they can get a raffle ticket. Winners will be drawn monthly.
