the wheel should spin by itself for at least five seconds. If it doesn’t, loosen the axle nut a half turn and try again. While the wheel should spin freely, it shouldn’t move laterally on the axle. New skates also come with very tight trucks- loosen each truck (there are four) a quarter turn at a time to get used to the way it feels.
