Temple to Pluto in Turkey " Missing for centuries, a storied gate to hell was recently uncovered, where poisonous air still breathes out of a cavern where priests once worshiped the gods of the underworld.
A digital illustration shows the ancient Plutonium, celebrated as the portal to the underworld in Greco-Roman mythology. A “Gate to Hell” has emerged from ruins in southwestern Turkey, Italian archaeologists have announced.
Gate of Hell: One statue depicts a snake rolled onto itself, a clear symbol of the underworld. The other shows Kerberos, or Cerberus, the three-headed watchdog of Hell in Greek mythology. The 4-foot-tall marble statue resembles the Kangal, the Anatolian shepherd dog.
