The Beatles 'perform' their 1966 hit "Paperback Writer" to be aired on the Ed Sullivan show. Guitar aficionados: George Harrison's Gibson SG, pictured here was not played on the actual recording (Fender Stratocaster was used) but he did later give it to Pete Ham of Badfinger, the first band signed to their Apple record label. ▶ Badfinger - "Day After Day" (1971) - Badfinger were a British rock band consisting originally of Pete Ham, Ron Griffiths, Mike Gibbins and Tom Evans; active from 1968 to 1983, and evolving from The Iveys; formed by Ham, Griffiths and David "Dai" Jenkins in Swansea, Wales, in the early 1960s. Joey Molland joined the group in 1969, following the departure of Griffiths.
