Alexander Boyd (?)

Oil painting - Alexander Boyd 1845. Half-length portrait of a boy, turned to front and looking to left. The sitter is wearing a black high-collared coat and white cravat. In the left background is Eton College.

There are many ways a Victorian gentleman may choose to tie his neckwear. Here is one of the simpler knots, illustrated that you may practice at home. We have made a special cravat for demonstration

Sean wants tuxes with coat tails (which I think is fab vintage for Mackinac Island) and I think dark gray is a good color for an outdoor wedding. He isn't fond of ties because he has trouble folding them. Do you have to tie a cravat?
