CRANIAL NERVES ------- Optic nerve (CN 2), sensory only. Receptors in the retina (rods & cones) synapse with bipolar cells, which synapse with ganglion cells. Ganglion cells form optic nerve. nanoflowers seeded from nano-sized particles of metals that grow, or self assemble, in a natural process. Eye surgeons would implant these fractal devices within the eyes of blind patients, providing interface circuitry that would collect light captured by the retina and guide it with almost 100 percent efficiency to neurons for relay to the optic nerve to process vision.

“The RNFL is an ideal structure (no other central nervous system tract has this unique arrangement) for visualizing the processes of neurodegeneration, neuroprotection and, potentially, even neuro-repair.  The authors We know that fibromyalgia is a central nervous system disorder; the question is whether we can do away with the “central” …

Retina close up cross section | The retina is the innermost layer of the eye and is composed of several layers of neurons interconnected by synapses. The only neurons that are directly sensitive to light are the photoreceptor cells, rods and cones. Light energy creates an image of the visual world on the retina, triggering nerve impulses that are sent to the visual centers of the brain through the optic nerve.
