Observational studies using different materials,pencil ink water colour charcoal etc
Observational studies - one object (lemon) different angles and media
Build geometric shapes on top of a sketch. Apply a different material in each section. You could recycle a pen or pencil observational study to do this.
Inside a Box - get students to bring a collection of objects in a box - and do a value study of the box and contents - IMPORTANT - have collection boxes on hand as is inevitable some students will forget to bring one to draw

I would encourage the students look for shell, and to sketch them in place. Not picking them up, just sketch them as they rest on the sand...even if the water tickles your feet.
