장훈, Isao Harimoto. The best hitter in Japan from 1959-81, Harimoto won seven batting titles. Over his 23 year career, he had 3,085 hits and a .319 lifetime batting average. He was a dangerous hitter who combined both power and speed. His 3085 career hits is the Nippon Professional Baseball record. The left fielder had the misfortune of playing for the mediocre Toei Flyers for most of his career, but the Flyers did win the Japan Series title in 1962, and Harimoto was with the Yomiuri Giants…
