Fabrics - work on vintage stamped-for-embroidery projects, linen or cotton that has a weave you can see. For outline stitches try fabric with a finer weave. Smooth cottons work best for iron-on transfer patterns. Crisp fabrics are easier to handle without stretching and pulling. You can also also embroider on wool felt, flannel, gingham and huck toweling. There are linens called embroidery blanks designed specifically for embroidery.
