TRAPPIST-1 Solar System Comparison. This diagram compares the TRAPPIST-1 planet system with Earth's solar system. The size of Earth's sun is shown with regard to the red dwarf star, TRAPPIST-1. The position of the seven planets around TRAPPIST-1 are shown in relation to Mercury's orbit around the sun.

When the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft flew by Saturn in 1980 and 1981, they were able to pay only fleeting attention to Titan, the second largest moon in the solar system (larger even than the planet Mercury) and the only solar system moon with an appreciable atmosphere. These images are from subsequent Titan flybys in 2005 and 2006. - Image credit: NASA / JPL / University of Arizona

Fun ways for kids to learn how to compare planet sizes in our solar system. Kids then can understand the size and scale of earth compared to other planets.

Our Solar System to Scale (I think this lesson could be easily modified for upper elementary science classes--and would make a great hook or culminating activity for a Solar System unit!)
