Chuma is the Slavic Goddess of Death. Chuma is depicted as a pale woman with white hair, dressed in a white gown. She carries a pair of silver scissors and a birchwood staff. The scissors she uses to cut the thread of life, and she gives the staff to the dead to help them on their way to the Underworld. Although Chuma is a Goddess of death, she is generally seen as a benign presence, and is called on by those who are dying to bring them a peaceful end. Chuma’s name means “plague.”

Phoenix Nebula~ Proserpina is the mythological embodiment of the phoenix, with her etymology origins stemming from the Latin, "proserpere" which means "to emerge," like grains sprouting up in spring to rise above the frosty winters which put them to sleep for a season. Said to have wings of fire, hair of red, eyes of emerald and skin pale as snow, she is recognized as an ancient seductress, fertility goddess and underworld bride; wife of life–death and rebirth from the ashes of our past.

Amuletic Plaque with Nephthys ca. 400-250 BC (Late Period-early Greco-Roman) Egyptian faience with pale green and blue glaze The goddess kneels upon a low base and holds her right hand in front of her face in a gesture of mourning. She wears a long sheath gown and a tripartite wig. Her characteristic headdress is actually a hieroglyphic writing of her name: a "nb" basket on top of a "hwt" shrine/mansion. Her name means "Lady of the Mansion."

Making a colour statement doesn't mean the colours have to be overwhelming or in-your-face. It can be through details and touches; yellow is given a lovely voice in this pale grey room.
